Baby Dumping
Her boyfriend promised he would always be there for her. She followed him all the way from Zimbabwe to Cape Town, South Africa looking for a new and better life. Now all alone, Edith is pregnant and doesn’t know what to do. If she keeps her baby she doesn’t have the financial means to raise it alone, and she doesn’t know anyone in the community where she now lives.
During her pregnancy she wears baggy clothes, trying to hide the fact that she is pregnant. Not knowing what to do and feeling like she has no other options she leaves her new born baby in the middle of a field.
As the baby’s cries pierce the night a bypassing woman picks the baby up.
Hundreds of babies are dumped every year, in South Africa. This growing problem is caused by a sense of desperation, a lack of education, and feeling like there is nowhere else to turn.
Please pray that baby rescue centers and baby drops are opened up and made aware of in the communities. Pray that women are educated and informed of alternate options for their babies.
